RT. REV. EBER PRIESTLEY (1961-1967)
Rt. Rev. Eber Priestley took over the reins of the Church in 1961 as its Bishop. He was a gifted preacher, responsible pastor but his gifts were more evangelistic than administrative. He very prayerfully faced the responsibility of steering a church which was now growing in the union brought in by the Church of South India. He tried his best to follow the new pattern scheme initiated by his predecessor Rt. Rev. Frank Whittaker, M.A. His term came to an end in 1967. He identified committed lay persons and trained them to be Local Preachers. He conducted regular classes to them. The next segment on which he used to prepare Christmas and Easter plays. To develop good relation with people of other religious, a club called "Brotherhood Club" was started.
